SCOTT CITY -- Bernice Cargle, 84, of Scott City died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 30, 1914, at Delta, daughter of Charles Thomas and Neva Edna Preyer Deweese. She and Theodore Cargle were married April 30, 1930, at Jackson. He died July 10, 1967.
Cargle had been a nurse assistant at Southeast Missouri Hospital and had worked at International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau, and was a dietary worker at St. Louis City Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including Willa Zimmerman and Kenneth Zimmerman of Scott City, Soundra Eifert of Arnold, John Zimmerman of Wentzville, and Mark Zimmerman of St. Peters.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Dr. John Owen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
