PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Bernetta Lankford, 73, of Perryville died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 15, 1935, at Perry County, Mo., daughter of Barney and Clara Lappe Hennemann. She and Virgil Lankford were married Feb. 27, 1954, at Perryville. He preceded her in death...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Bernetta Lankford, 73, of Perryville died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 15, 1935, at Perry County, Mo., daughter of Barney and Clara Lappe Hennemann. She and Virgil Lankford were married Feb. 27, 1954, at Perryville. He preceded her in death.

Lankford was a cook at St. Vincent Elementary School in Perryville. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, the Daughters of Isabella, Ladies Sodality, American Legion Auxilliary and the Perryville Fire Department Ladies Auxilliary.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Lankford of Perryville, Alan Lankford of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Cynthia Lynn of Jackson; four sisters, Angie Fausz, Jeanette Finger and Dodi Schlichting, all of Perryville, Lulu Gettinger of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; two brothers, Barney Hennemann of St. Louis, Wayne Hennemann of Perryville; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. with the Ladies Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella. Visitation will continue from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Revs. Kevin Fausz and Joe Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
