Bernard Edward Twesten, 78, of 3120 Independence, died Friday, April 7, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 12, 1916, in Edgemount, Ill., son of William C. and Lena A. Logan Twesten. On Feb. 9, 1947, he married Margaret Simmon in St. Louis.

A World War II veteran, Twesten had been a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He attended Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Utah. A service manager for Shure-Richardson in St. Louis, Twesten later moved to Jackson in 1969 and became owner-operator of the Frontier Motel in Jackson with his wife for 14 years. In 1983, he moved to Cape Girardeau.

Twesten was a past member of the Jackson Rotary Club, the Jackson Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Jackson Community Betterment. He was a past member of the New McKendree Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school, he attended Cape Bible Chapel.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dale A. Twesten of Atlanta, and a daughter, Debora Ann Fleming of Dubuque, Iowa. Two infant daughters and a brother preceded him in death.

Visitation was held Sunday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Funeral service will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Cape Bible Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
