Cecil Bernard Chaudoir Jr., 56, 2223 Hillbrook, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital, following a three-year illness with Lou Gehrig's disease.
He was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Alexandria, La., son of Cecil B. and Sadie Lemmons Chaudoir Sr. He and Bonnie L. Laseter were married Aug. 26, 1961, in Ruston, La.
Chaudoir participated in a research program at Washington University/Barnes Hospital in search of a cure for the disease.
He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute.
Chaudoir was a retail executive with Sears, Roebuck and Co. 35 years. He had worked in New Orleans, La., Jacksonville, Fla., Mobile, Ala., Baton Rouge, La., and the last 25 years in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, and Elks Lodge 639.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Chaudoir of Imperial; a daughter, Dionne Hoffmeister of Cape Girardeau; his mother of Pineville, La.; a brother, Ron Chaudoir of Highland, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and his father.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Miles H. White officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
