Benny Edmund Holder, 72, of Scott City died Sept. 8, 2016, at Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield, Missouri, following a long illness.
Firstborn son of Nadine and Otto, Benny was born April 19, 1944. In 1962, he graduated from Troy High School in Troy, Michigan.
Benny was a master gardener. He was employed at Franks Nursery for 10 years and later moved to Arizona, where he further developed his gardening skills and discovered the beauty of the desert.
In 1979, he moved to Scott City to be closer to family. During that time, Benny joined the Mormon Church of Cape Girardeau and was responsible for running the audio-visual systems at the church.
His passion for gardening continued throughout his life. His customers loved his work, entrusting him to build and design beautiful gardens for their homes.
Benny was a kind and gentle soul. He loved all of God's creatures, the great outdoors and tinkering with technology.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, with Pastor James Woeltje officiating.
