TAMMS - Ben Worthington, 73, of Miller City, died Saturday, July 31, 1973 at Cairo. He was born Oct. 11, 1919 in Miller City, the son of Henry and Caroline (Schlamer) Worthington. On June 15, 1940 he married Ruth Blakemore, who survives. Also surviving are: two sons, J.B. Worthington of East Carondolet, Ill., and C.J. Worthington of Olive Branch; one brother, Carl Worthington of Cairo; one sister, Carrie Brooks of Wickliffe, Ky.; and three grandchildren...

He was born Oct. 11, 1919 in Miller City, the son of Henry and Caroline (Schlamer) Worthington. On June 15, 1940 he married Ruth Blakemore, who survives.

He was preceded in death by a brother, two half brothers, and a half sister.

He was a member of the Lake Milligan Baptist Church, a veteran of the Second World War, a member of the Cairo Masonic Lodge and of the Southern Illinois Quota Zone Waterfowl Association.

Friends may call at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms today from 5-9 p.m. and on Monday until the time of the service.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery.
