Ben Heatley, 86. of Cape Girardeau died Friday, June 12, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Oct. 31, 1911, at Dutchtown, son of Cornelius Lynn and Elizabeth Butler Heatley. He and Evelyn Sandlin were married June 6, 1940, in Cape Girardeau.

Heatley had been a custodian at International Shoe Co., White Cross Laboratories, and retired from Southeast Missouri State University in 1976.

Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Melvin Heatley of Jackson, Eldon Heatley of St. Louis, Raymond Heatley of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Emilda Guthrie of Flint, Mich., Lula Cummins of Idaho, and Ella Heatley of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Lorimier Cemetery, with the Rev. James Caughlan officiating.
