LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Barker Leighton Gee was a songwriter, singer and master of several instruments, with his choice being electric and acoustic guitar. He performed and recorded with various groups throughout his career.

Indie punk rock, blues, punk rock, Southern indie punk rock and jazz were his favorite genres to perform. He had a loyal following of dedicated fans that not only enjoyed his music, but also his unique, kind spirit. During his travels with the various bands he belonged to, he traveled to Europe, Japan, Mexico, Canada and the UK, sharing his unique style of music.

During his short-lived career, he made a great impact on the music industry with his many talents. His talents were beyond comprehension, especially coming from a small Missouri town and being a self-taught musician.

He graduated from New Madrid County Central, then attended the University of Ozarks. He also attended Berkley College of Music in Boston.

Barker Leighton Gee, 32, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in Conway, Arkansas. He was born July 13, 1983, in Blytheville, Arkansas, son of E.B. Gee III of Conway and Melinda Barker Gee of Charleston, Missouri.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Everett Gee of Little Rock; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Gee Jr. of Ocala, Florida; his maternal grandfather, Kelly Barker of East Prairie, Missouri; and his maternal grandmother, Frances Braden, and maternal stepgrandfather, Joe Braden of Loudon, Tennessee.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Missouri.

The funeral service will be at noon Wednesday in the Nunnelee Chapel, with Bro. Timmy Farrenburg of New Madrid, Missouri, officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Charleston.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Chism, Zack Dees, Steve Orieola, Joseph Hunter, Jeffery Hunter, Jake Nesselrodt, Matthew Snider, Nathan Comer and Gabe Marshall.
