ADVANCE, Mo. -- Barbara Jo Scowden Shell, 70, of Advance passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 8, 1945, at Sturdivant, Missouri, daughter of Oren and Annie Simmers Scowden. Barbara was the baby sister to Margaret White, Lloyd Harris, Donald Scowden, Dwane (Shirley) Scowden, Dwight Scowden, Shirley (Gary) McCullough and Rachel (Kenneth) Carlton, and big sister to Bobby (Teresa) Scowden...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Barbara Jo Scowden Shell, 70, of Advance passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 8, 1945, at Sturdivant, Missouri, daughter of Oren and Annie Simmers Scowden.

Barbara was the baby sister to Margaret White, Lloyd Harris, Donald Scowden, Dwane (Shirley) Scowden, Dwight Scowden, Shirley (Gary) McCullough and Rachel (Kenneth) Carlton, and big sister to Bobby (Teresa) Scowden.

She and Billy Berk Shell were married March 19, 1962, in Advance. They were married 51 years when he passed away Dec. 8, 2013. They are together again now.

Barbara is survived by her loving son, Tim (Carla) Shell; special granddaughters, Tara Jo Shell, Madison Shell and Tracy Shell (Kory) Johnson; and two great-granddaughters, Calleigh and Cadence Johnson; beloved daughter, Monica Rhodes and her family: her love, Billy Rhodes and their son, Billy Rhodes, and his fiancee, Mollie Bowman and their daughter, Leeanna Rhodes and her daughters, Alexa and Carolina -- Barbara liked to tell Little Billy he was her favorite grandson -- special sisters-in-law, Carol Costello, Charlene King and Barton and Brenda VanGennip; and many loving nieces and nephews, each one special in their own way.

A celebration and remembrance will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
