POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Barbara Beis Kembel, 35, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Portageville, Mo., died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Golden Living Center in New Madrid, Mo.

She was born July 9, 1974, at Hayti, Mo., daughter of Charles Anthony and Dorothy Kraemer Beis Jr.

Kembel was a member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville. She attended Southeast Missouri State University. She had worked at Southwestern Bell in Cape Girardeau and was a Blue Cross Blue Shield claims representative.

She worked two summers for Southern Illinois University in "Back to Nature" with handicapped children. Her favorite pastime was karaoke, where her voice won her many contests and many friends.

Survivors include her mother of Portageville; two brothers, Charles (Pam) Beis III and James Beis of Portageville; four sisters, Dr. Karen (Chuck) Armour of Brighton, Tenn., Nancy (Paul) Noland of Perryville, Mo., Angela (Phillip) Allgier of Fredericktown, Mo., Mary (Jimmy) Alsup of Sikeston, Mo.; 17 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Beis Jr., July 3, 2005.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday at Delisle Funeral Home in Portageville.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Eustachius Church, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Portageville Cemetery.
