SCOTT CITY -- Barbara Josephine Hopkins, 89, of Scott City died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 11, 1907, at Kelso, daughter of Leo and Louisa Ziegler Diebold. She and Virgil "Hoppy" Hopkins were married July 9, 1926, in Cape Girardeau.
Hopkins was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church at Kelso, and its St. Ann's Sodality.
Survivors include a son, Joe Hopkins of Bellevue, Wash.; five daughters, Dolores Mier of Jackson, Joan Johnson and Betty Buttrey of Scott City, Mary Essner of Cape Girardeau, Barbara Sander of Frankfort, Ky.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
