Barbara Ann Hammock, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Nov. 4, 1940, in Burlington, N.C., daughter of Charlie and Mary Ellen Fogleman Hudgins. She and Richard H. Hammock were married May 14, 1965, in Spring Hill, Tenn.
Hammock worked 32 years at the University of Florida, retiring in 2000. She moved to Cape Girardeau in April 2007 from Chiefland, Fla.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Philip Jones of Chiefland, Gary Hammock of Shreveport, La., Dwayne Jones of Bronson, Fla., Eric Hammock of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Belinda Leger of Shreveport, Teresa Teague of Cape Girardeau, Maria Cline of Adairsville, Ga.; a brother, Thomas Hudgins of Burlington, N.C.; two sisters, Lois Yanke of Twin City, Minn., Ruth Motley of Burlington, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, six brothers, four sisters, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at North Cape Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Jerry Westbrook officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Trenton, Fla.
