Longtown -- Graveside service and burial of cremains of Barbara Hawley Harlan of San Mateo, Calif., formerly of Perry County, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at York Chapel Cemetery near Longtown.

She died May 21, 1996, at San Mateo at the age of 77.

She was born June 12, 1918, at Marshall, daughter of Dr. H.L. and Ethel Bowman.

She graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor's degree in journalism.

She was an accomplished violinist, performing with the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra in the 1950s.

Survivors include a son, Robert Ridge Harlan of Yuba City, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara Brooke Williams and Holly Anne Harlan of San Mateo; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville handled the arrangements.
