SCOPUS -- Balaska F. Daugherty, 86, of Granite City, Ill., died Wednesday, March 16, 1944, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 7, 1907, in Bollinger County, daughter of Joseph Thompson and Louise Mayfield Crain.
She married Marshal Daugherty. He died in September 1984.
Daugherty was a retired service manager for the former Stix Baer and Fuller department store company.
She was a volunteer with the Salvation Army and was active with the church and senior citizen center activities in the Granite City area.
Survivors include a son, Eldon L. Stearns of Granite City; a daughter, Wanda Von Hall of Florissant, Mo.; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the Irwin Chapel in Granite City.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Irwin Chapel in Granite City, with Daugherty's grandson, the Rev. Phillip Stearns officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Cook Cemetery in Scopus. Burial will follow.
