MARBLE HILL -- Azilea Rhodes, 78, of Marble Hill died Sunday, Aug. 25, 1996, at Bond Nursing Center.
She was born March 18, 1918, in Scopus, the daughter of Ernest and Della Limbaugh Mayfield. On Nov. 20, 1937, she married E.J. "Jim" Rhodes, who died June 4, 1966.
Rhodes was a member of the Marble Hill First Baptist Church. She was a retired secretary for the Liley Funeral Home and the Englehart Clinic, both in Marble Hill. She worked in an administrative position for the Missouri Baptist Children's Home in St. Louis prior to moving to this area.
Survivors include two sons, James E. Rhodes of St. Louis and William E. Rhodes of Marble Hill; four brothers, Eugene Mayfield of Overland, Dean Mayfield of Jackson, Larry Mayfield of Moro, Ill., and Fred Mayfield of Hillsboro; two sisters, Marge James of Jackson and Joan Hahs of Cuba, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. today at the Liley Funeral Home and from 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Marble Hill First Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Allen Cemetery.
