Avis Lane

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Avis L. Lane, 91, of Charleston, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, a the Charleston Manor.

She was born May 20, 1912, in Harrisburg, Ill., to the late E.G. and Maude Church Ford. She was raised near Sikeston, had attended New Bethel Baptist Church and the Bridges Community Methodist Church near Sikeston.

She was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary in Sikeston. She was previously married to Goburn Wheeler, Henry Cherry and Milton Lane, all who preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Delores Brown of Charleston; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, seven brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
