Avery Dellinger

Avery W. "Dub" Dellinger, 79, of Jackson died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 24,1930, in Cape Girardeau, son of Avery W. and Ariminta Proctor Dellinger. He and Betty Davie were married Feb. 7, 1957, and were married 52 years.

Dellinger was employed by LeeRowan 13 years, and was also a barber 18 years in Cape Girardeau.

He was a charter member of Jackson Elks Lodge 2652, a former member of Daisy Coon Hunters Club, and member of National Guard 1140th Engineer Battalion 16 years.

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Dellinger of Jackson; a son, James and Janet Dellinger of Ozark, Mo.; three daughters, Theresa A. King and husband Jerry of Jackson, Debbie K. Butcher and husband Steve of Springfield, Mo., Cathy Barks and husband Lindell of Sedgewickville, Mo.; six grandchildren, Eric J. Dellinger, Clint R. Butcher, Dustin W. King, Jessica A. King, Dillon J. Ruch, Twyla J. Dellinger; and a great-grandchild, Quianna C. King.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. An Elks service will be held at 6:30.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
