SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Avery Claude Dees of Scott City will be held at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Revs. Rennie Phillips and Pat Wissman will officiate, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Dees was retired from the highway construction business and had worked for P.R.I. Asphalt in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry and Tom Dees of Scott City, Anthony Dees of Chaffee; three daughters, Diane Scholl of Kennett, Debbie Dees and Joyce Weatherspoon of Scott City; a sister, Terry Ford of Cape Girardeau; 12 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, a sister and two grandchildren.
