Aurelia P. "Ritzy" Wood, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Perryville, Mo., daughter of Edward and Hilda Unverferth Prost. She and Fred J. Wood were married April 15, 1950, in Perryville. He died April 22, 1974.
Wood was a graduate of DePaul Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a staff nurse in surgery at Perry County Hospital, was the first director of nursing service at Ste. Genevieve County Hospital, and served as first home health nurse and administrator of Ste. Genevieve County Health Department.
Survivors include three sons, Fred Wood of Denver, Colo., Gerard Wood of Leawood, Kan., Joseph Wood of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Ann Kay Litwicki of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Edward and Linus Prost of Perryville; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Wood Family Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles Prost will officiate. Burial will be in Valle Spring Catholic Cemetery.
