AUGUST W. BARTELS

August William "Bill" Bartels, 92, 1009 Linden, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1992, at Cape Girardeau Nursing Center.

He was born Nov. 23, 1899, at Tilsit, son of Frederick and Christina Foeste Bartels. He and Minnie Mungle were married March 16, 1934, at Marble Hill.

Bartels farmed all his life in the Tilsit, Jackson and Cape Girardeau areas, moving to Cape Girardeau 25 years ago from Oriole. He was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bobby Bartels of Cape Girardeau, Earl Bartels of Benton; two daughters, Alice Weissinger and Lillie Lafferty of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Fred Bartels of Hallsville; a sister, Louise Hinck of Mar Vista, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hanover Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey Sippy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
