AUGUST L. LEIST

BENTON -- Funeral service for August L. Leist of Benton was held Monday at Jimmy Osburn Chapel in Hayti, with the Rev. Roy Edwards officiating. Burial was in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens at Caruthersville.

Leist, 91, died Thursday, June 22, 1995, at Mineral Area Hospital in Farmington.

He was born Sept. 3, 1903, at Commerce, son of Lawrence and Mary Spoonhaur Leist. He and Mary Helen Drummond King were married Jan 27, 1930. She died Jan. 21, 1967.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Morgan and Letha Sexton of Benton; a sister, Anna Garrison of Scott City; 13 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter and five brothers.
