August H. "Red" Ziegler, 74, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Scott County, son of August and Anna Hahn Ziegler. He and Mary Ann Nenninger were married Aug. 4, 1943, in Cape Girardeau.
Ziegler was a retired letter carrier with the Cape Girardeau Post Office. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Knights of Columbus Council 1111, VFW Post 3838, St. Francis Volunteers, and Letter Carriers Association.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, David Ziegler of Memphis, Tenn., Ronald Ziegler of Jackson, Roger Ziegler of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Nancy Grim, Leah Koehler and Lindy Dickey of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Margaret Lyell of Overland, Mary Handing of San Benito, Texas; five brothers, Raymond Ziegler of Clarksville, Walter Ziegler of Carlyle, Ill., Vernon Ziegler of Lexington, Ky., Nelson and James Ziegler of Camdenton; 11 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel after 4:30 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by KC rosary.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. James A. Seyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
