MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- August Eftink Sr., 79, of Marble Hill died Friday, March 25, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 29, 1931, son of Henry and Mary Laurentius Eftink. He and Margie Peters were married Nov. 12, 1955, at St. John's Church in Leopold, Mo.

Eftink was owner of Eftink Auto Body and Sales and a farmer. He was a member of St. John's Church and Parish Council; charter member of Crisis Pregnancy Center; member of Missouri Right to Life, 10-Point Club and VIP board. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 315, Babe Ruth coach many years, and was an avid horseshoe player and bowler.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife; 10 children, Jeff (Mary) Eftink of Marble Hill and children Toni and Alex; Eva (Charlie) Dunn of Marble Hill and children Charles, Daniel and Amanda (Dustin) Woods; Terrie (Dale) Rose of Marble Hill and children Stephanie and Jesse; August "A.J." (Sharon) Eftink of Marble Hill and children Josh, Jessica and Elizabeth; Ted (Sheryl) Eftink of Marble Hill and children Andrew, Catherine and Madison; Mike (Donna) Eftink of Sikeston, Mo., and children Ryan and Shannon; Tom Eftink of Cape Girardeau; Adrian (Kim) Eftink of Cape Girardeau and children Clayton and Lauren; Damian (Marla) Eftink of Cape Girardeau and children, Luke, Matthew and Ashley; and Nathan (Misty) Eftink of Harrisburg, Ill.

Also surviving are two sisters, Emma Holzum of St. Louis, Francis Vangennip of Marble Hill; and a brother, Louis Eftink of Kelso, Mo.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Eftink; two sisters, Sister Gertrude Eftink and Ann Adams; and two brothers, George and Clarence Eftink.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Church in Leopold, Mo., with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
