August H. "Gus" Buchheit died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 6, 1919, in Apple Creek, Mo., son of Henry W. and Theresa Anna Baer Buchheit. He and Mabel Warren were married Nov. 6, 1944.
He worked for Robinson and Schumer Heating and Plumbing. He was a World War II veteran and member of the American Legion Post 133. He belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek and was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Steve Buchheit of Springfield, Mo., Daniel Buchheit of Columbia, Mo., Stanley Buchheit of Chester, Ill., Bruce Buchheit of Perryville, Mo.; a daughter, Joan Jany of Chester; two brothers, Urban Buchheit of St. Louis, Edgar Buchheit of Perryville; three sisters, Laura Buerck of St. Louis, Mary Ann Rellergert of Apple Creek, Regina Zoellner of Perryville; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.
Prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday and rosary will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, with the Rev. Tony Dattilo officiating. Burial, with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133, will be in St. Michael Cemetery at Apple Creek.
