August Beine

August L. "Gus" Beine, 90, of Maryland Heights, Mo., died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at his home.

He was born March 7, 1918, in St. Louis, son of August and Lorine Uetrecht Beine. He and Lorraine Roberson were married June 15, 1942. She died March 1, 1995.

Beine worked in marketing at Schnucks and had been a basketball coach. He was a member of St. Blaise Catholic Church in Maryland Heights.

Survivors include five sons, James Beine of Nevada, Robert Beine of South Carolina, John Beine of St. Louis, Donald Beine of St. Peters, Mo., Richard Beine of Jackson; three daughters, Patricia Rooney and Kasia Jozef of Maryland Heights, Sharon Ollar of Manchester, Mo.; a brother, Joe Beine of Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Cecelia Payne of Rock Island, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Blaise Church. The Rev. Matthew Barnard will officiate.
