August B. Klasing, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, June 27, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born June 22, 1910 in Cape Girardeau, son of Barney and Mattie Wickersham Klasing. He married Georgia Hargiss on Dec. 22, 1933, and she survives him.

He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Delta and the Corner Stone Assembly Church of Cape Girardeau. He had retired as an electrician from the Santa-Fe Railroad in Kansas City, Kan.

He is survived by a son, Lloyd Klasing of Vassar, Kan.; three daughters, Gladys Sparks of Seligman, Ruth Cartwright of Canton, Ohio, and Debra Peterson of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Louise Kimbell of Scio, Ore., and Evelyn Amos of Scott City; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kim Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Glen Allen Cemetery.
