Audrey E. Golden, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 29, 1936, in Urbana, Illinois, to Paul and Edythe Mae Onken Eshleman.

She and Douglas L. Golden were married Aug. 25, 1957, at Thawville, Illinois. He survives.

Audrey was a graduate of Roberts-Thawville High School and received an associate's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

She was a stay-at-home mother, did after-school care at Lyncare 13 years, was a substitute teacher in the Cape Girardeau School District, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, taught Sunday school children more than 30 years, and babysat her great-grandchildren five years.

She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Stephen (Cathy) Golden of Burfordville and Bradley (Martha) Golden of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Carrie (Justin) Cain, Benjamin Golden and Matthew Golden; three great-grandchildren, Zander Cain, Elliott Cain and Elizabeth Cain; and brother, Fred (Jackie) Eshleman of New Richmond, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Lynwood Christian Academy.
