Audrey N. Borgfield, 81, of Jackson passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at home surrounded by her beloved family.
She was born July 27, 1941, in Cape Girardeau to Claude and Dorothy Meyer Foeste. She and Larry D. Borgfield were married May 26, 1962. Audrey was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
When Larry and Audrey first met, she worked as a secretary at Saint Francis Hospital before becoming a devoted housewife for several years. She put every ounce of effort into loving and building her family while also helping Larry tend to their farm where they raised livestock and various crops. During this time, Audrey also served as a first and second grade Sunday school teacher in the Catholic church for over 30 years. Additionally, she enjoyed serving as president of the St. Ann's Sodality, where she directed the largely celebrated Turkey Day event, alongside some of her closest friends. As the years went by, she even added 15 years of service working at Walmart.
Audrey was a dedicated grandmother. She made it to every sporting event of her four grandchildren, often rearranging other parts of her life just to see her grandbabies play the sports they loved. She could always be heard in the crowd as one of the loudest, proudest supporters of the teams. Audrey was her grandchildren's biggest fan in every facet of life -- pushing them to excel in school, taking the time to call each of them individually just to "check in" and offering nuggets of her wisdom along the way.
Audrey never backed down from any task, as she embodied what it truly meant to be a strong woman with a determined mindset. She demonstrated what it meant to be truly tough, have a positive attitude and persevere through adversity, no matter the circumstance. She was the "magic" behind every holiday celebrated, as she always prepared a large, hot meal accompanied by her intriguing stories, quick-wittedness, laughter and "spicy" sense of humor. Audrey always told you "like it was," but the message was always delivered with love. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and faithfully watched their games on television. Audrey's life is a testament to the motto she followed and shared: "Spread love around for it to grow."
