ORAN, Mo. -- Aubrey Dempsey "Jack" Whorton, 77, of Florissant, Mo., died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Christian Hospital Northeast in Florissant. He was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Russellville, Ark., son of True and Ather Deatherage Whorton. He and Peggy Louise Brindley were married Oct. 9, 1955...

ORAN, Mo. -- Aubrey Dempsey "Jack" Whorton, 77, of Florissant, Mo., died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Christian Hospital Northeast in Florissant.

He was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Russellville, Ark., son of True and Ather Deatherage Whorton. He and Peggy Louise Brindley were married Oct. 9, 1955.

Whorton retired as an assembler at General Motors in St. Louis. He had also been an usher part time at Wehrenberg Theaters in St. Louis. He was a member of United Auto Workers AFL-CIO Local 25 in St. Louis.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick Whorton of Florissant; four daughters, Debra Madigan of Oran, Bonita Boston and Cheryl Politte of O'Fallon, Mo., Paula Menzel of Highland, Ill.; a brother, Kenneth Whorton of West Memphis, Ark.; two sisters, Iva Lynn of Chaffee, Mo., Edna Cummins of Sikeston, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 3 p.m. Saturday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Mo.
