CHARLESTON -- Atanacio Gorostiza, 71, of Charleston, died Friday, May 24, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Ed Couch, Texas, son of Guadalupe and Herminia Sanchez Gorostiza. He and the former Laura Vasquez were married July 22, 1939.
Gorostiza had lived in Charleston 14 years. He was a retired farmer, and member of St. Henry's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tony Gorostiza of Charleston, Ricky Gorostiza of Sikeston, Johnnie Gorostiza of Bertrand; five daughters, Rosa Thompson of Charleston, Wally Jones of Memphis, Tenn., Mary Hesselrode of Jackson, Tenn., Angela Crespo of St. Louis, Gloria Hack of LaCenter, Ky.; three brothers, Pablo, Carlos and Martin Gorostiza of Ed Couch; three sisters, Maggie Cardenez of Houston, Texas, Julia Hernandez of Detroit, Mich., Dominga Martinez of Ed Couch; 16 grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, a brother and sister.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McMikle Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Rev. Raymond Kunkel will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 p.m. today.
