EAST PRAIRIE -- Arvin "Jack" Sterling, 79, of East Prairie died Sunday, March 8, 1992, at the Bertrand Retirement Home.
He was born April 12, 1912, in Camden, Tenn., the son of Thomas Matthew and Leona Smith Sterling. On Oct. 1, 1932, he married Katie Stone, who preceded him in death Dec. 18, 1982.
He lived in Mississippi County since 1924, where he was a retired farmer. He attended the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie.
Survivors include four sons, Leon Sterling of Charleston, Elmer and Thomas Sterling, both of Camden, Tenn. and Jerry Sterling of Fairdealing; seven daughters, Wanda Callis of Hecker, Ill., Jeanie Ellis of Metropolis, Ill., Cathy Sterling of Alton, Ill., Linda Lynn of Wickliffe, Ky., Judy Hale of Fenton, Penny Haden of Cairo, Ill. and Angel Miller of Aurora, Ill.; a brother, Landon Sterling of Anniston; 27 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie, where funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Mike Johnson will officiate, and burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in East Prairie.
