Arthur Paul Woods Sr., 76, of Jackson died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 16, 1933, in New Port, Ind., son of Arthur Pete and Mary Cecile Peer Woods. He first married Dorothy Marie Murry on Oct. 6, 1952. She died April 17, 1960. He and Rose Wagle were married Feb. 14, 1964. She survives.
Mr. Woods worked for Garwood Lumber and Pallet Co., where he assembled and set up various types of machinery for the manufacturing of pallets and the cutting of wood slabs used in pallets.
He served with the Indiana National Guard.
Also surviving are three sons, Arthur P. (Terri) Woods Jr. of Gordonville, William (Laura) Woods of Van Buren, Mo., Kenny (Cindy) Black of Shacklefords, Va.; two daughters, Marilyn (Ed) Bowen of Jackson, Robin (William) Trainer of Piedmont, Mo.; two brothers, James Woods of Cayuga, Ind., and Richard A. Brock; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Warren; a brother, Albert; three sisters, Sarah, Florence and Norma; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Kevin Mann officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
