Arthur E. McDowell, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1911, at Kinder, son of William H. and Edna Gibson McDowell. He and Della Novella George were married Sept. 16, 1933, at Brownwood. She died Sept. 7, 1996.
McDowell had been a pure pack operator at Sunny Hill Dairy and Midwest Dairy. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Jackson and served as deacon seven years, and was a member of Teamsters Local 574.
Survivors include three sons, Bill McDowell of Milton, W.Va., David McDowell of Cape Girardeau, Chuck McDowell of Evansville, Ind.; two daughters, Chris Hartline of Cape Girardeau, Lorrie Tetrick of Rock Island, Ill.; two brothers, Clayton McDowell of Wentzville, Harold McDowell of Morristown, Tenn.; two sisters, Madge Hampton of St. Louis, Doris Howard of Salina, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with Jerry Culbertson and Steve Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
