Arthur Lee Eldridge, 86, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 25, 1931, in Chaffee, Missouri, to the late John and Ethel Mae Carnell Eldridge. He and Effie Mae Bettiegrue married Aug. 25, 1956, and she survives of the home.
Arthur was a fireman in Cape Girardeau for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He owned and operated Eldridge Landscaping for many years. Arthur was a 32nd-degree Mason with Blue Lodge in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his loving wife, Effie Eldridge; a son, Gary Alan (Jill) Eldridge of Jackson; two daughters, Judy (John) Litzelfelner Clarke of Wolfe Lake, Illinois, and Deborah Lee (Michael) Lix of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Russell (Terri) Eldridge of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Geneva Proffer of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Billy W. Van Troba II, Jerime Clarke, Ryan B. Rhodes, Leah N. Eldridge, Lindsay N. Lemons, Jack Hansley and Jeff Hansley; 12 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Kylie, Marrisa, Brittany, Kayleigh, Tristan, Cameron, Abby, Lainey, Joshua, Landrey and Colden; and a great-great-grandchild, Brantlee.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and John Eldridge.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim and Marilyn Hampton officiating. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee with full military honors.
