Arnold Henry Unnerstall, 85, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 1996, at his home.
He was born Aug. 20, 1910, in Cape Girardeau, son of Henry Arnold and Catherine Louise Steimle Unnerstall. He was one of the first students to attend the St. Mary's High School and was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and Knights of Columbus.
He served in the medical corps during World War II and was in every major battle fought across Europe. He worked in retail sales and as a buyer for Hechts Stores for 50 years.
He is survived by two sisters, Catherine "Tootie" Moll and Louise Marie Bollinger, both of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 7 and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:30.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
