Arkie M. Wilbur, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Jackson, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 7, 1914, in Salem, Ark., daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Margaret Wren Pickren. She married Merriett Gist Wilbur, who died April 8, 1971.
Wilbur retired as an English teacher from Poplar Bluff High School. She was a member of First Christian Church and its Gleaners Sunday school class, and Missouri State Teachers Association.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Peel and Pat Fowler of Poplar Bluff, Marie Peeples of Blytheville, Ark.; a sister, Kathryn Bowling of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Dr. Thomas Pickren of Sierra Madre, Calif., Wren Pickren of Wichita Falls, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a sister, a brother and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Bill Clanahan and elder Steve Fowler officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
