DEXTER, Mo. -- Arthur Bryant "Archie" Parker, 79, of Dexter died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston, Mo.
He was born Nov. 12, 1921, at Cairo, Ill., son of Arthur Parker Sr. and Charlotte Steger Parker. He and Virginia Patterson were married Dec. 25, 1942, at Dexter.
He owned and operated Dexter Cut-Rate Drug Store for many years and was a pharmacist for more than 50 years. He was a member of Dexter Masonic Lodge #532, where he previously served as worshipful master, and he had served as secretary of the Dexter Kiwanis Club for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston and the Sikeston Community Choir, and he had served his churches in Dexter and Sikeston as deacon and in other capacities.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stephen Parker of Spearfish, S.D., and Michael Parker of Sikeston; one sister, Barbara Brown of Charleston, Mo.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Monday. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Dr. Jim Guffie officiating. Interment will be in Dexter Cemetery.
