Anton John Sebek, 83, passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side Friday, July 29, 2016, in St. Louis.
Tony was born Nov. 19, 1932, in St. Louis to Mary Katherine Sebek. He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School. He married his high-school sweetheart, Imogene Ford, on Nov. 28, 1952. She preceded him in death.
Tony served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a cartographer stationed in California and Alaska.
Tony had a long career as a registered architect. He was a lifetime member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). His body of work included many commercial buildings, schools and churches throughout Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Kentucky and Arkansas. Among his favorite projects were the Vo-Tech complex for Cape Girardeau Central High School, the Osage Centre and Hanover Lutheran Church. He served on the Cape Girardeau Board of Appeals for many years, stepping down in 2013.
Tony was passionate about golf and was a longtime member of Kimbeland Country Club. He also was involved with the Southeast Missouri Bootheel Bowhunters Club for many years.
Tony is survived by daughters Kathy (Tom) Bridges and Toni (Don) Zimmer; five grandchildren, Lesley Bridges (Joe) Meyerott, Tricia Zimmer (Josh) Ferguson, John Bridges (Molly), Tyler Zimmer (Ellen) and Tori Zimmer (Seth) Gerlach; seven great-grandchildren, Ellie, Oliver and Josie Meyerott, Hunter and Walter Ferguson, Teddy and Jerome Zimmer, and an eighth on the way.
Funeral services are private with interment at Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri or the American Heart Association.
