KELSO, Mo. -- Anthony "A.J." Schott, son of the late John and Catherine Burger Schott Sr., was born Oct. 28, 1935, in Oran, Missouri, and departed his life Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at his residence in Kelso at the age of 86.
On Nov. 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Helen Mae Ressel in Kelso. She survives of the home in Kelso.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and a former railroad conductor for Cotton Belt Railway.
Anthony was a avid fast-pitch softball player and coach, who passed on his love of the sport to his children. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Jeff (Angie) Schott of Kelso; daughter, Sandy (Robert) Greer of Benton, Missouri; brother, Melvin (Pat) Schott of New Hamburg, Missouri; sister, Betty (Glen) Debrock of Delta; four grandchildren, Dani (Logan) Stoddard of Republic, Missouri; Austin (Jordan) Greer of Gladstone, Missouri; Britney (Curtis) Ackman of Jackson; and Mariah Schott of Cape Girardeau; and six great-grandchildren, Haden Stoddard, Adalyn Stoddard, Stetson Stoddard, Lincoln Greer, Kade Ackman and Kai Ackman.
Besides his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by a son, Steve Schott, and a brother, John Schott.
Visitation will be from 4:30 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
