CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Memorial mass for Anthony Rubich of St. Louis, basketball coach at Notre Dame High School 16 years, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Dominic's Savio Catholic Church in Affton. J.B. Smith Funeral Home of Maplewood is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call at the family home after the service.

Rubich, 65 years old, died Sunday, March 10, 1991, at Lutheran Convalescent Home in St. Louis.

He was born June 14, 1925, in St. Louis, son of George and Margaret Rubich. He married the former Meredith Cleeton.

Rubich was a member of the 1948 NIT championship team of St. Louis University. He received a bachelor's degree from St. Louis University, and a master's degree from Washington University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a teacher and basketball coach at St. Louis University High School, retiring in 1983 due to ill health.

He was the first recipient of the Notre Dame Hall of Fame Award in 1985.

Survivors include his wife, and a daughter, Joncey Rubich.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
