ADVANCE, Mo. -- Annie R. Scowden, 98, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 13, 1904, in Kansas, Ill., daughter of the late William H. and Josephine Glovier Simmers. She was first married to Evert Harris in 1926. He died June 12, 1931. In 1935, she married Oren Scowden at Greenbrier, Mo. He died Nov. 20, 1953.
Scowden was a member of Bethel General Baptist Church in Advance.
Survivors include four sons, Lloyd Harris of Puxico, Mo., Dwane Scowden of Carthage, Mo., Dwight Scowden of Sturdivant, Mo., Bob Scowden of Whitewater, Mo.; four daughters, Margaret White, Shirley McCollough, Rachel Carlton and Barbara Shell, all of Advance; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, two grandchildren, six sisters and four brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Dale Wiseman and the Rev. Keith Price officiating. Burial will be in Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy, Mo.
