Anne Ophelia Merkler, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Jan. 18, 1918, at East Prairie, daughter of Elgin C. and Henrietta Grissom Davis. She and Frank C. Merkler were married Dec. 27, 1941, in Charleston. He died in August 1979.
Merkler had taught sewing and Spanish at East Prairie and Sikeston schools. The Merklers also had owned a fabric store. She was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Merkler of Cape Girardeau, Francis Merkler of Jackson; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
There is no visitation.
Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charleston, with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating.
Burial will be later at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
