Anna Schmitt

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Anna M. Schmitt, 87, of Chaffee passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Bethesda Southgate Nursing Center.

She was born April 13, 1929, in Ruckers, Germany, to the late Wilhelm and Martha Sorg. Anna married Benjamin W. Schmitt on May 31, 1957, and he preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1986.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. Anna retired from housekeeping at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha (John) Harris of Baytown, Texas, and Barbara Schmitt of O'Fallon, Illinois; three sisters, Theresa, Monika and Hanna; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Church in Chaffee, concelebrated by the Rev. Randy Tochtrop. Burial will be at St. Ambrose Cemetery in Chaffee.
