Anna Mae Dorris Myer, 94, of Jackson died Friday, June 21, 2024, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Kennett to James R. and Etta Clay Romines. She and Cecil W. Dorris were married March 13, 1946, at Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Dec. 20, 1985. She later married Burley Myer, who also preceded her in death.

Over a span of 51 years, she was first a supervisor for VIP Industries and then served on the support staff of Regency Management. She also worked in the nursery at Lynwood Baptist Church for 16 years.

Anna liked to fish and enjoyed spending time with family, especially, her grandkids. She loved her dad, remembered him fondly, and spoke of him often.

When she was 90 years old, her son-in-law, Wayne, took her for a ride on a Harley. She enjoyed it and said, "I'd do it again."

Survivors include six sons, Cecil L. (Wanda) Dorris of Oak Ridge, William (Rhonda) Dorris of Altenburg, Paul (Linda) Dorris of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Michael Dorris of St. Louis, Carl Dorris of Cape Girardeau and Jessie Dorris of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Effie (Wayne) Mossman of Jackson and Lillian Lashbrook of Kansas City; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; three sons, Dennis, Jimmy and Bob Dorris; stepson, Charles Dorris; brother, James R. "J.R." Romines; half brother, Herschel "Cad" Romines; and half sister, Nola Romines Massey.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
