Anna Dorris, 101, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Jan. 6, 1900, on a farm near Illmo, Mo., daughter of Adam and Conradina Uelsmann Sander. She attended schools in the Illmo community. She was married to Dr. G.T. Dorris May 14, 1919, at the Idan-Ha Hotel in Cape Girardeau...

Anna Dorris, 101, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Jan. 6, 1900, on a farm near Illmo, Mo., daughter of Adam and Conradina Uelsmann Sander. She attended schools in the Illmo community. She was married to Dr. G.T. Dorris May 14, 1919, at the Idan-Ha Hotel in Cape Girardeau.

They are the parents of two daughters, Anna Elizabeth Dorris Britton and Martha Lou Dorris Bray.

Mrs. Dorris was an active member of the Lutheran Church as well as the Methodist Church in Illmo, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

After her husband's death in 1954, she moved to Long Beach and Los Angeles, Calif., where she was a designer and did alterations of wedding attire for brides. She returned to Cape Girardeau in 1975 and worked at Rust and Martin until she retired.

Mrs. Dorris is survived by a daughter, Martha Bray of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Anna Elizabeth Dorris Britton who lived in Marietta, Ga., with her husband, W.R. Britton, who survives. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Charles Blaylock officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
