PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Ann Catherine Hulshof Schwendemann died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 15 days.
She was born Jan. 7, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Herman Hulshof and Stella Durbin Hulshof. She was united in marriage to Robert Joseph Schwendemann on Aug. 24, 1968, in Portageville. He preceded her in death Oct. 16, 2001
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Herman and Stella Durbin Hulshof; two sisters, Agnes Hulshof and Mary Ellen Trenery; and three brothers, Edward, Stephen and Louis Hulshof.
She was a faithful member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville, where she served on the Ladies Sodality.
She started her career at McCrate Equipment as a bookkeeper, but her ultimate job was giving her tender love to her children and grandchildren. Ann loved anything to do with the outdoors, especially when it came to helping her boys with the farm.
She leaves to cherish her many memories her sons and daughters-in-law, Sean Schwendemann of Old Mines, Missouri, Michael and Vannesa Schwendemann of Cape Girardeau, Phillip and Destinee Schwendemann of New Madrid, Missouri, and Kevin and Beth Schwendemann of Portageville; her daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Dean Spurlock of Sikeston, Missouri, Darlene and Bill Jobe of Chaffee, Missouri, Carrie and Kevin Renaud of Charleston, Missouri, and Laura and Rob Kavaliauskas of Cape Girardeau; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Hulshof of Portageville; a sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Thomas Bean of Lenexa, Kansas; 16 glorious grandchildren, Julia and Payton Spurlock, Joshua Schwendemann, Andrew and Jessica Jobe, Hannah Schwendemann, Emma, Joseph and Mirabella Schwendemann, Marianne and Matthew Renaud, Ava, Luke and a special delivery soon to be here, Teddy Kavaliauskas, and Brooklyn and Gabrielle Schwendemann; and a host of many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville. Burial will be in Portageville Cemetery.
