ANNA, Ill. -- Ann Macy-Sweet, 73, of Anna died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Jonesboro Health Care Center in Jonesboro, Ill.
She was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Albany, N.Y., daughter of John E. and Ann Drew O'Brien. She and Thomas J. Macy were married April 6, 1947. He died July 7, 1989. She later married Charles Sweet, who died Dec. 4, 1999.
Macy-Sweet was a graduate of Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y., and Hofstra University in Uniondale, N.Y., earning a degree in guidance and school administration. She was formerly of Fort Myers, Fla.
She was a registered nurse, and was the first female principal in the Connetquot School District in New York. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Ladies of the Moose in Fort Myers, and Elks Ladies in New York.
Survivors include four sons, Brian Macy of Anna, Michael Macy of East Quogue, N.Y., John Macy of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Drew Macy of Fort Myers; two brothers, John O'Brien of Fort Myers, Charles O'Brien of Savannah, Ga.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son and an infant daughter.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Fort Myers.
