Ann Warren Leming, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born June 25, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of James McClain Warren and Helen Reed Warren.
In her youth she lived in various communities throughout Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan and Texas.
Following a car accident while attending the University of Texas, she moved to Missouri and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
In 1950 she met and married Merit E. Leming, who survives. They lived in Crystal City, Texas, from 1950 to 1958, where their children were born.
They returned to Missouri where Mrs. Leming, a homemaker, began an active life of community and church involvement. Some of her activities included membership in P.E.O., Town and Country Garden Club, Girl Scout leader, performer in the annual Kiwanis Follies, Lorimier School PTA vice president, member of Governors Mansion Preservation Committee in Jefferson City, Mo., and was Outstanding Woman of the Year in 1963.
Mrs. Leming was also very instrumental in helping start La Croix United Methodist Church. She was an active member involved in various ministries, from Vacation Bible School to church council.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a caring friend to many.
She is also survived by a daughter, Laura A. McGinty, her husband Chuck, and sons Charles and Samuel; a son, Bill Leming, his wife Susan, and their daughter, Abigail, all of Cape Girardeau. Also surviving is a sister, Martha Musgrove; a brother, Jim Warren, both of McAllen, Texas; an aunt, Jessie Hamilton of Warner Robins, Ga.; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at La Croix United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or La Croix United Methodist Church.
