SIKESTON, Mo. -- Anita Lee "Skeeter" Forrester, 51, of Sikeston died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1962, in St. Louis, to Mildred J. Garrison Forrester Burnes and Carl William Forrester Sr.
Anita had previously lived in St. Louis, Michigan and Marble Hill, Mo., and moved to Sikeston when she was 17. She attended Temple of Faith General Baptist Church in Sikeston and was employed by Havco Wood Products in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include her mother of Sikeston; three brothers, Elmer Forrester of Cahokia, Ill., Stacy Forrester of Sikeston and Mark VanBrook of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; three stepbrothers, Bobby, Steve and David Burnes of New Madrid, Mo.; a stepsister, Brenda Burnes of Sikeston; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Carl William Forrester Jr.; a sister, Virginia Akers; and stepfather, the Rev. Robert Burnes.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Temple of Faith General Baptist Church on Smith Avenue, with the pastor, Allen Rhyne officiating. To fulfill Skeeter's request, everyone should wear their Cardinals (or red) shirts.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Forrester, Stacy Forrester, Mark VanBrook, Andrew VanBrook, Christopher VanBrook, Susan Cox and Becky Strawn.
