Anita E. Martin, 83, 1412 Lexington, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 1995, at her home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1911, in Farmington, daughter of William and Carrie Denman Cofer. She and Robert C. Martin were married Nov. 17, 1931, in Jonesboro, Ill. He died March 14, 1988.
Martin received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1962, and later received a master's degree in education at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
She was a teller at the former Farmers and Merchants Bank from 1948-57. She was a teacher from 1957-80, having taught at St. Charles, Florissant, and at Campster and Egypt Mills schools.
Martin was a member of Maple United Methodist Church and Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary. She also had done volunteer work at the hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Tom Martin of Houston, Texas, John Martin of Mentor, Ohio; a sister, Jean Blake of Houston; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
There is no visitation.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Maple Church, with the Rev. John Gregory officiating. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
